Nancy Corlett, 85, of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on November 13, 2025, surrounded by loved ones in the city where her remarkable life began. She leaves behind a legacy of creativity, warmth and intellect that touched all who knew her.
Nancy earned her BA Fine Arts degree in 1961 from Colorado State College in Greeley, where she met her husband, Tom. She worked as an art teacher at Manning Junior High in Lakewood, Colorado, and she and Tom married in 1962. She and her family traveled extensively, and over the years she created inviting, artful homes in Summit County, Boulder, Rye, Phoenix, and Pueblo. A woman of exceptional imagination and thoughtfulness, Nancy brought artistry and insight to everything she undertook—from the gardens and stage sets she designed to the many quilts she stitched and the homes she so lovingly made.
She will be remembered for her sharp mind, her principles, her boundless originality, her determination to go her own way in a world of conformists, and especially for her profound sense of humor. She is survived by her husband Tom, son Thomas Jr. “Tod” (Jill Wacker), daughters Risa (Ty) Phelps, and Cathleen Corlett (Muller), sisters Julie Bensko and Kathleen Cassidy, and grandchildren Lucy and Wiley Corlett, Cotty and Brice Phelps, and Calder Muller.
Her memory endures in the art she created, and in the hearts and minds she inspired. Her family is planning a memorial for Spring or Summer 2026. In lieu of flowers, Nancy requested donations to PAWS For Life Animal Welfare and Protection Society in Pueblo.
