To the Ceplo family,  I was very sorry to read the obituary in the Pueblo Chieftain.
Sorry to miss the service, but wanted you to know my prayers are with you in
this hard time.  I am glad that Dick and I shared so many memories with you

Dear Johnny, Rose, Karen, Chris, and family,

Gene and I had a friendship with Pat and John for over 40 years.  During that time we created some wonderful memories.  Pat was one of my first golfing buddies.  One day as we were playing, and I was doing very poorly, and expressing myself thus poorly, Pat proceeded to give me a speech.  She prefaced it by telling me that this is the speech John gave her early on in her golfing career.  She said, “Angie, this is just a game.  If you can't play and be fun and be in a good mood, then you don't need to be here.”  It was this truthful bluntness that I loved most about her, and her wisdom was always beyond her years.  She taught me to treasure my blessings and realize the privileges I was allowed.

During the many years that we lived in Pueblo we went out most Saturday nights.  Pat loved to put on her slinky black dress and high heels and dance up a storm.  One particular night, we were at the Broadmoor's King Charles Court and one of the waiters was so busy looking down Pat's dress he got completely discombobulated and poured the picture of ice water right down her dress.  She just did a sexy shoulder shimmy and reveled in the flattery despite the frigid shock.  

We endured so many swim meets together through Pueblo Country Club.  The sun would beat down on us, and Pat would remind me to wear sunscreen or a hat to protect my lily white skin.  Each summer this swim league took us to many places around the state, including Cherry Hills Country Club in Denver and other meets in Colorado Springs. During our Colorado Springs trips we would always treat the kids to ice cream at Michelle's or the Soda Straw.  My recollection is that Johnny and Pat always got Vanilla or Chocolate ice cream, whereas me and my kids always got the fancy ice cream desserts.  This was so symbolic of our respective complexities in our personalities.  She always had a simple elegance.  

When Johnny and Mike first met at Somerlid it proved to be an instant friendship.  One cruel day, however, Michael dared Johnny to jump off a high chain link fence.  This resulted in Johnny's broken arm and Pat's wrath toward Mike and me.  Not a great side of the fence to be on. . .

Johnny, you and I talked about how much your mom missed your dad.  Now they are together, which is where they have always been happiest.  We had years of a precious friendship and I will miss her dearly.

Johnny, Rose and the entire Ceplo clan:
John and Pat. Pat and John. I can't think of one without thinking of the other. Back in the day, when we all were in the prime of our lives, we spent many a Friday evening at LaTronica's, kibitzing with Geno, stuffing our faces and laughing until we cried. On many other occasions, we socialized around golf events, having tons and tons of great fun. I see them in my mind today, gliding smoothly across the dance floor, singing along at the piano or teasing one another in the special way that lovers always do. Individually and as a couple, they were a class act, one that I will forever be grateful to have witnessed. In recent years, whenever I'd call Pat to say hi, she would always say, "I'm fine but ready to be with John." If you believe, as I do, that certain soul mates are destined to spend eternity together, you are comforted by the knowledge that Pat and John are back on the dance floor.
