March 25, 1941 - April 25, 2025
Patricia Marie Katz, 84 years old of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed peacefully on April 25, 2025. Born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado, Patricia's footprints were all over the steel city. In her youth, she was Pueblo's first papergirl, delivering the daily Pueblo Chieftain (formerly the Star Journal) all over the south side. As an English major, Patricia obtained her Associates degree from Pueblo Junior College, and moved to Colorado Springs to start a job in civil service. During her time working as a secretary at the United States Air Force Academy, Patricia met her husband Howard, who was in the Army and stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado. They met, fell in love, and raised their two children in Colorado Springs, living in the same house and making it a home for over 50 years, building their legacy there.
Patricia was a loving and supportive wife to Howard, her husband of 55 years, a caring mom and grandmother, and a dear friend to so many.
Patricia enjoyed spending time with her family, beautifying her garden, reading the daily newspaper and keeping up with current events, challenging herself working on the New York Times crossword puzzle and other jigsaw puzzles, learning to snow-ski in her 40s and taking family trips to the Colorado mountains, winning big jackpots (and losing some too!) in Cripple Creek, and taking occasional trips to Santa Fe and Las Vegas.
Patricia is preceded in death by her husband Howard Katz, her mother Velma (Michalek) Valentine, and her father Warren Valentine. She is survived by her brother Robert Valentine (Mary Ann), her son Greg Katz (MJ), her daughter Marcy Katz (Donald), and her grandson Simon Monley.
Funeral services and a celebration of Patricia's life will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11:00 am at T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home, 329 Goodnight Ave, Pueblo, Colorado 81004.
