Phyllis was born on July 18, 1957 in Topeka, Kansas to Billy E. and Vera G. Garrett. She attended West Texas State University and Faith Baptist Bible College; her dream was to serve and be a missionary in a foreign country, that door did not open. She did serve faithfully as a pastors wife for 30 years, Phyllis was married to her loving husband, Doug Morris for 35 years. Together Doug and Phyllis had six living children, as well as one who went to heaven before birth. Her children are Micah (Sideli), Aaron (Dannielle), Hannah, Adam, Holly, and Grace. She worked as a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital when she met Doug and in several other hospitals, care centers, as well as some home health. She was very involved in her current church, West Street Baptist Church of Pueblo, for 25 years, teaching and working with music, singing, and creating musical plays and programs for the children. In addition, she did the other responsibilities of a pastor’s wife, as much as her physical limitations allowed, She was a sweet and Bright Light.
Phyllis lived for her Lord, her family and her church. She loved nursing, singing, working with children and preparing holiday programs in her church. She ran the race well, and she finished strong.
