She was a devout and faithful woman who profoundly loved her family. She was a loving and kind wife, mother, daughter, and grandmother. She was warm and thoughtful towards all – family, friends, and strangers alike. Those who knew her reciprocated her warmth and kindness with love and gratitude. She will be missed and lovingly remembered. She found in fauna and flora of nature and its many wonders a constant source of wonder and inspiration. A favorite pastime was to indulge in a simple, meandering walk in the sun.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon Vander Valk, her daughters Kimberlee Jarbath and Kendalee “Laine” Taylor, her granddaughters Summer and Sophie Jarbath, and her grandsons Alec Taylor and Dean Young. She was the effervescent daughter of Denver visual artist Phil Spanier and culinary enthusiast Grace Clark and sister to Marilyn Joette Vander Hoven and Phil Spanier.
