

Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Elizabeth A. (Dignan) Kachel and Walter Kachel II. Thomas attended Fleetwood Area High School and went on to further his education at Colorado State University in Pueblo, Colorado. He spent the latter part of his career at The Caron Treatment Center in Wernersville, Pennsylvania, working in the maintenance department until his retirement in 2016.
Throughout his life, Thomas was an adventurous spirit, with a deep love for the outdoors. He cherished his time in Colorado, where he enjoyed skiing, motorcycle riding, fishing, and camping—activities that allowed him to appreciate the beauty of the mountains. Above all, he valued the time spent with his family, creating many wonderful memories that will be cherished forever.
Thomas is survived by his children Patrice (Kachel) Lang of Pottstown, PA, and Tammy (Kachel) Bisconti of Fleetwood, PA. His grandchildren include Beth Ann (Yob) Serratore and her husband Frank Serratore of Sicklerville, NJ, Sonya M. Yob of Fleetwood, PA, and Lauren K. Bisconti of Fleetwood, PA. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Carlee, Alyssa, and Addison Serratore, all of Sicklerville, NJ.
Additionally, Thomas is survived by his brothers Kevin S. Kachel and Walter “Bink” Kachel III, as well as many nieces, nephews, and close family friends, including Uncle Bud Shelton and cousins Vicky, Tonya, Nadine, and Shawn.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and was the father-in-law of the late Wendell Lang, husband of Patrice (Kachel) Lang. He was also preceded in death by his loving Aunt Helen Mannix, his first love “Susie Q,” and his loving cousin Elizabeth “Betty” Shelton.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Maidencreek Church, 261 Main Street, Blandon, PA 19510. Visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Lung Association or a charity of your choice.
Thomas will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His spirit, kindness, and love for life will live on in the hearts of his family forever.
