Winifred Laura Goettel

Winifred (Wini) L. Goettel, 91, formerly of Beulah, CO. Passed away on May 20, 2018 at Bruce McCandless Veterans Home in Florence, CO. She was born January 5th 1927 to Ray and Laura Shonts in Colorado Springs, CO. Wini was very active in her community and her Church. She was a member of the Beulah Valley Historical Society, Beulah United Methodist Church and Beulah U.M.C. Women's group to name a few. She taught Sunday School and Confirmation classes, she also was a delegate to the United Methodist Church Conference several years and volunteered to help at any Church activity when needed.

Wini was a teacher, she was also an activities director at the Pueblo Villa Towers in the early 1980's before she retired. Wini was a wonderful mother, wife and grandmother. She loved her family very much. Wini was never to old or unable to play with her grandchildren. Wini was a very lovable Woman. Wini is Preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Laura Shonts, husband, Rev. Willis F. Goettel, brother Ray Shonts, brother, Ted (Izetta) Shonts, sister, Virginia (Carl) Wertz, and sister, Elizabeth Shonts. Survived by brother Stan (Leah) Shonts, Colorado Springs, CO, sister, June (Richard) Brown, San Antonio, TX, 6 children, Gary (DeEtta) Goettel, Pueblo West, CO, Andy (Susie) Goettel, Spokane, WA, Timothy (Susan) Goettel, Pueblo West, CO, Eric (Jackie) Goettel, Pueblo West, CO, Suzanne (James) Favier, Colorado Springs, CO, Amy (Brent) Haar, Pueblo CO. 9 grandchildren, Jenna (Eric) Janik, Pueblo West, CO, Lessa (Ryan) Trosper, Swink, CO, Laura (Shaun) Gonzales, Pueblo, CO, Haylee (Brendan) Reilly, San Diego, CA, Jarrod (Laura) Haar, Broomfield, CO, Kelsey (David) Scutti, Pueblo West, CO, Gabrielle (Jon) Smith, Spokane, WA, Garrett Goettel, Lafayette, LA, Aaron Goettel, Pueblo West, CO. Wini also had 16 great grandchildren. Wini is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. Funeral service is at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 4, 2018 at Imperial Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in Winifred’s name, through the funeral home, to the National Breast Cancer Foundation or Alzheimer’s Association. Interment will follow at Beulah Cemetery in Beulah, CO.
