

Billy Joe Parks, Sr., age 79, died on Sunday, August 2, 2015, in NHC, Pulaski, TN. He was born on November 10, 1935 in Pikeville, KY, He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Samantha Mounts Parks, son, Billy Joe Parks, Jr, wife, Donelda Jean Parks, granddaughter, Kendra Poore, grandchildren, Bobby D. Sprague and Donald Taber IV, great grandchildren, Britney Taber, David and Dustin Sprague, he enlisted September 28, 1951- discharged October 16, 1966, Served in the Navy for 15 years, went in at the end of the Korean Conflict and
served in the Vietnam Conflict, he was a Chief Machinist 1st Class, served on the USS Rochester, USS Marshall, USS Chevalier, USS Piedmont, USS Helena, USS Laws and the USS Floyd B. Parks, during his term he was an instructor at the United States Naval Training at Great Lake, Illinois and also, for the Admiral Staff in San Diego, CA, teaching air conditioning, refrigeration and heating, hydraulics and machinist, he earned 10 medals and several certificate awards. He left the Navy in 1966 and went to work at the Mare Island Navy Shipyard. He moved to Michigan and worked for the Mather Co., Edwards Brothers, her then worked for the University of Michigan in the heat and air conditioning department, that covers the whole campus. He was the one who set up the heat and air controls for when the computers took over. He was also, in the Plumbers Union.
Survivors are: Sons, Gary Taber and wife Debora of Pulaski, TN, Niles Taber and wife Deborah of Indiana, daughters, Rhonda Poore and Husband Hank of Pulaski, TN, Carol Sprague of Michigan, sisters, Juanita Anderson of Willis, Michigan, Georgia Sizemore and Betty Drenay both of Ypsilanti, Michigan, 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at 11AM at the First Assembly of God Church, with burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
