

He was born in Pulaski, TN on August 14, 1932, a lifelong resident of Giles County, TN, long time employee of Maremont Gabriel Corp., he was a Giles County pioneer in Artificial Insemination services for livestock, serving as Giles County’s first AI technician, he was a horse, mule and Dalmatian breeder and cattleman, served in the National Guard, member of First United Methodist Church, his parents were the late Raymond G. and Maude Dunnavant Abernathy, preceded in death by sisters, Elise Rost and Emily Burrus.
Visitation will be on Friday, 8-15-2014, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Carr & Erwin Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, 8-16-2014, at 10:00AM in Maplewood Cemetery, Pulaski, TN.
Memorials may be made to Circle of Care at First United Methodist Church or Tennessee Alzheimer’s Association.
Survivors are: son, Mark Lloyd Abernathy of Huntsville, AL, daughter, Pamela Abernathy Van Dyke and son in law Bude Van Dyke of Sewanee, TN, sisters, Martha and Marie Abernathy, grandchildren, Herschel Van Dyke of Nashville, TN and Lily Van Dyke of Bogart, GA, great grandchildren, Eiva, Caleb and Elijah, nieces, Amy Burrus Flyn, Beth Burrus Little, Sue Burrus Pinsly, Jan Rost, nephews, Keith, Greg and Ray Rost and Grady Burrus, extended family, Ica Coggin of Pulaski, TN, Bill Coggin of Atlanta, GA, Jeff, Diane, Kevin and Kristin Coggin all of Pulaski, TN.
