Robert Melton Hinkle

Mr. Hinkle was born July 30, 1927 in Old Hickory, TN to Alfred and Ova Lee Daly Hinkle. He worked at US Steel and Bethlehem Steel from 1948 to 1990, served with the Merchant Marines in WWII, loved dancing music and enjoyed many local dance halls throughout his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons Julian W. Hinkle, James R. Hinkle, and grandson Michael Hargrove.

Visitation will be Monday February 9, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday February 10, 2015 at Carr & Erwin Chapel with interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include three children Shirley Hinkle Hargrove of Pulaski, Carolyn S. Morse and husband Len of Chesterton, IN, Mark A. Hinkle of Westpoint TN, sister Mattie Lee Hargrove of Prospect, grandchildren Stephanie Hargrove Salters, Teresa Elliott, Kimberly Luegers, Matthew Morse, Evelyn Hinkle, Robert Bobby” Hinkle, great grandchildren Taylor Lee, Cameron Salters, Eli Salters, Caleb Elliott, Trevor Cruze Elliott, great great grandchildren Kenidee Lee and Christian Lee.

The family would like to thank his nieces, nephews and grandchildren along with their families who visited him during his illness.
