

Lorraine Morrison, age 91, of Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly a long time resident of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Loving mother of Barbara (Alan) Golden and Marcia (Douglas) Wanroy, grandmother to Mackenzie Joy Wanroy and Lindsey Hope Wanroy. Preceded in death by beloved son Frederic and devoted husband Howard Morrison. Also survived by brothers Thomas Moore and John C. Moore, preceded in death by her brother Richard Moore. Survived by her dear kitties Misty and Tipper.
She was born Lorraine Mae Moore in Muskegon, Michigan, “Rainy” attended Muskegon Heights High School and spent a year at Western Michigan University before entering the Hackley Hospital School of Nursing, from which she graduated in 1949. She married Howard Morrison in 1950. They settled in Grand Rapids where they were members of the Second (Congregational) United Church of Christ. Lorraine worked at Spectrum Blodgett Hospital for 25 years in the newborn nursery and neonatal ICU. She was active in the Second Church golf league and was a Cub Scout den mother as well as a school nurse. Her planning always resulted in fun and memorable summer vacations while her children were young. Lorraine loved cats, music, flowers and birds, especially cardinals. Her independent spirit will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am till 10:30am, Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL. A Celebration of Life Service will begin 10:30am at the funeral home on Wednesday February 19th.
Lorraine will be buried in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
