July 3, 1948- May 8 2026
Lynn Grams age 77 of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026 under the care of Hospice. Born on July 3, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan she was the cherished daughter of Marilyn Grams and Lous Grams.
A Life of Healing and Leadership:
Lynn was a woman of profound skill and even deeper compassion. She graduated from the Grace Hospital Nursing School in Detroit in 1968, beginning a dedicated nursing career that spanned over 30 years. She didn't just care for patients; she advocated for them, comforted them, and brought a sense of calm to the most chaotic hospital floors.
Her skills as a clinician eventually led her to the role of Director of Nursing Education for Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda. In this capacity, she was a mentor and a North Star for countless nurses, ensuring that her high standards of care and empathy would continue to thrive in the next generation of healthcare workers long after her retirement.
The Heart of the Family:
Though she had no biological children, Lynn was a mother figure in every sense of the word. She poured her incredible capacity for love into her nieces and nephews, and later her great-nieces and nephews. To them, she wasn't just an aunt; she was a confidante, a protector, and a source of constant encouragement.
She had an unquenchable zest for life and a spirit built for adventure. Lynn loved good food of all kinds and was a legend in the kitchen. No family gathering was complete without her signature dishes—most famously her "Bananas Lynn," a creative and beloved variation of Bananas Foster that became a staple of family lore.
Lynn met life with a playful, competitive spark. She was an avid gamer who played to win, whether sitting across a card table or Backgammon board or, in her later years, engaging with friends in the digital world. She became remarkably proficient in online gaming, proving that her sharp mind and social nature knew no bounds of age or technology.
Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Marilyn Grams and Louis Grams, and her beloved sisters Paula Bowins and Carla Delacey, her nephew in law Scott Johnson and beloved friend Robert Sucheck.
Her legacy of love, laughter, and "Bananas Lynn" continues through her cherished brother Kevin Grams and his wife Tammy.; her beloved nieces and nephews: Kristy Johnson, Scott Bowins and his wife Sherri, Billy Bowins and his wife Shelly, Angela Grams, Travis Grams, Randi Cochran, and Roger DeLacey; her great-nieces and great-nephews: Ben Johnson, Emma Johnson, JT Bowins, Jenna Bowins, Caitlyn Bowins, Haley Bowins, Kiley Bowins, Chase Bowins, Lexi Thompson, Carter Lucas, Kami Grams, Treyson Grams, Caleb Cochran, Grace Cochran, Kaden Delacey, Emerald Dunlap, Autumn Dunlap and Gavin Smith and her wonderful friends Diana and Will Smith and Linda Sucheck.
She will be forever remembered, forever missed and forever loved by all who had the privilege to know her and love her. She leaves behind a wide circle of friends, former students, and online gaming companions who will miss her sharp wit and warm heart, amazing cooking, and infectious love of life.
Visitation will be held at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 635 E. Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950, on May 15, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 pm.
