Dolores R. “Dody” Martin of Milton, WA passed away on May 1, 2013, at the age of 81. Dody is predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph Martin. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Cindy Flores of Graham WA, her son Mark Hutson of Federal Way WA, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Dody was born in Great Falls, MT on March 9, 1932. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma in 1950. She worked in various careers, and was very proud of the fact that she led the way as the first female penetrant inspector for The Boeing Company, from which she retired in 1987. In 1991, Dody and Joe had the experience of a lifetime when Joe took a position in Paris for a year, and they were able to travel throughout Europe during that time.
Dody enjoyed being outdoors and was especially fond of horses and related activities. She loved being in the mountains, trail riding, and was a charter member of her beloved Meridian Riding Club of Puyallup WA. Dody, Joe and her family spent many hours exploring the hills and trails of Buck Creek, Crystal Mountain and other Western Washington locations. Being ever adventurous, Dody insisted on parasailing on one of their vacations, and not to be outdone, Joe reluctantly agreed to accompany her! One of her favorite birthday gifts from her family was skydiving for her 65th!
The memorial service will be held on May 18, 2013 at 1pm at The Edgewood Bible Church, 1720 Meridian Ave E, Edgewood WA. There will be a reception following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meridian Riding Club, 11202 119th St E, Puyallup WA 98374.
