Myral Richard Schumacher was born May 1, 1935 in Bayard, Morrill County, Nebraska to Bertha and Myral William Schumacher. Richard enjoyed the great outdoors – camping, swimming, hunting rabbits, pheasants – and was active in the Boy Scouts. He played football and basketball throughout his high school years. He joined the South Dakota National Guard in 1955. He moved to Seattle, Wa. in 1957 to work for The Boeing Company. In 1958 he was called up for draft and he volunteered for active duty in the Army, rank of Sergeant. Upon release from the Army at Fort Lewis, WA, March 1960, he resumed his employment with the Boeing Co. Richard met his wife, Martha, while working at Boeing on Special Projects. They were married December 14, 1991, making their home in Milton, Washington. They both retired from Boeing in 1995. Martha has a daughter, Heidi, from a previous marriage. Heidi and Jon Nathe have two daughters, Julia and Kilee. Being Papa to Julia and Kilee brought so much love and joy to Richard. They spent many great summers camping and spending time at the beach. Richard was active in the Milton community, serving as Commissioner on the City of Milton Planning Board and served as Advisor on the Milton Activity Center Board, and an active member of the B.P.O.E. (Elks). Richard passed on July 2nd 2016 after a long struggle with Lewey Bodies. We greatly miss and love him. Services will be held Friday, July 8th, 2pm, Powers Funeral Home, Puyallup, WA 98371.
