Ruth Oshild Collier

Ruth Collier was born Ruth Isaksen in Aaknes, Norway on October 15, 1924. One of 11 children, Ruth went to be with her Lord on July 16th. While her family and friends will greatly miss the blessings provided by her feisty Norwegian spirit they take solace knowing that she has been reunited with her beloved mother, father, sisters, brother husband and son in heaven.

Ruth’s commitment to caring for wounded veterans, her love of her Norwegian heritage, her infamous ‘green’ thumb and her culinary talents impacted many. Ruth’s true passion came out whenever she served as a witness to God’s strength after he kept her cancer free for 55 years. Her love of family, friends and God kept her strong during her recent struggles.

Ruth is survived by seven siblings, her three children, Larry Long, Linda Dixon and Butch (Leslie) Long and countless grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John Collier and son Michael Long.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on July 28th from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. at the Assembly of God South Tacoma, 7227 South Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA.
