Tony was born to parents Nazario and Lourdes on April 13, 1948 in Cavite, Philippines. He enlisted in the US Navy at Sangley Point, Philippines in 1969. Throughout his 23-year naval career he traveled the globe, from the Philippines to California, Cuba, Rhode Island, Florida, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Scotland and New York. He retired from the USN in 1992 and served an additional 15 yrs in the US Postal Service before he completely retired from public service.
Tony married his wife of 43 years, Estelita (Estie) on June 19, 1976 at St. Paul Church in NJ. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Brooklyn, NY where they started their family and then settled in Queens Village, NY where they raised their three children: EmyLou, Kevin and Cathrine, and were active parishoners of Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church.
Tony will be remembered as a proud patriot and US Navy veteran, loving father, doting grandfather, a caring and generous brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife Estie; his daughter EmyLou and her husband Joel; daughter Cathrine, and grandkids Leahna, Joleen and Christian; as well as his six siblings: Seny; David (Beth); Nazario Jr. (Linda); Jessie (Lita); Belarmina (Klaus); and Manuel (Mayette); and many nieces and nephews. Tony is preceded in death by his parents, his only son Kevin, and his infant granddaughter Hannah Lynn.
Tony was laid to rest on March 31, 2020 at Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery in Flushing, NY. A memorial service will be held at a future date once the family is allowed to do so.
God has prepared a special place for Tony in His great house, and he is now welcomed at the gates of heaven by Hannah, Kevin, his parents and all those who have gone before him. Rest In Peace, Tony. We wish you fair winds and following seas.
