Adapted from her handwritten note
Eliana was born in Santa Rita, Yaro, Honduras, Central America on January 27, 1935 to Lilly Hall and Pablo Humberto Torres. She was raised by her blind maternal grandmother Josefina, who believed in the Lord, and her grandfather Samuel Hall.
She received the Lord when she was seven, but was not baptized for a long time. She came to this country in 1952 for a better life. The Lord was very gracious to her and kept her in this country until her death.
As a child, she read the Bible to her grandmother. When she came to this country, she read the Bible to her uncle’s mother-in-law, who loved and trusted the Lord, though she could not read. This was Eliana’s salvation. Most of the time she did not understand what she was reading, but the Bible is the Word of God and it is able to keep you and guide you.
In this country, she attended a Christian Church, the Gospel Tabernacle, where she met her beloved husband, Edwin Righton. She was baptized, got married, and dedicated her three daughters to the Lord at the Gospel Tabernacle. She loved the fellowship there until the Lord brought them to the Recovery. She followed her husband, and that was a great salvation.
By the Lord's arrangement, there was almost always someone at her job who loved the Lord. At her last job, she worked for many years for Brother John and Sister Sherene Lam. The Lord even took care of her in this way. He is so merciful.
Praise the Lord, coming to the Church was the better life, for which the Lord brought her to this country. And she saw the better life fulfilled. To be one with the brothers and sisters is the greatest joy on Earth.
In her earthly travels with Edwin, her husband of 65 years, the Lord was always faithful and always met their needs.
The Lord shepherded me all the days of my life. To Him be the glory. I love you Lord Jesus.
On Feb 6, 2024, 1 ½ years after Edwin’s death, the Lord encouraged me with these verses in Isaiah
43:1-3:
V1: But now saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob (Eliana), and He that formed thee, O Israel (Eliana), Fear not, for I have redeemed thee; I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
V2: When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
V3: For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior.
What encourages me the most is that phrase, I will be with thee. This is my encouragement, day by day, that the Lord is with me. I will be with thee.
I pray that all my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will put their trust in the Lord and enjoy the all sufficient life that the Lord gives to his children.
