Gail Kathyann Sankarsingh, 57, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 27, 1968, in Siparia, Trinidad and Tobago, to Dalip Sankarsingh and Mavis Nandoo Dasilva.
Gail spent her childhood in Siparia and attended Siparia Union Presbyterian School and Palo Seco Secondary School. From a young age, she was known for her confidence, love of debating, poetry, and sports, and her willingness to take on any challenge. These qualities helped shape her into a fearless and determined woman.
As a teenager in the 1980s, Gail moved to the United States and eventually earned her bachelor’s degree from Queens College. New York became her home, a place where she built both her family life and her career.
In 2007, Gail began her journey in luxury real estate, a profession that suited her perfectly. She had a rare combination of warmth, sincerity, and intuition—traits that made her exceptional in her field. Over the years, she became a respected and accomplished agent, representing notable properties such as the Apthorp, Manhattan House, and the Baccarat residences. Her professionalism and dedication earned her repeated recognition among top producers at Douglas Elliman, where she spent nearly two decades building meaningful relationships with colleagues and clients alike.
What truly set Gail apart was her ability to connect with people. She approached every interaction with empathy and genuine care, whether she was guiding someone through the excitement of purchasing a new home or supporting a colleague. Her global outlook, shaped by her life experiences and travels, allowed her to relate to people from every background. Her impact extended far beyond sales—she touched lives through her kindness, integrity, and unwavering optimism.
In recent years, Gail faced cancer with remarkable courage and grace. She continued to carry herself with strength, inspiring all who knew her.
Gail is preceded in death by her father, Dalip Sankarsingh, and her brother, Dexter Sankarsingh.
She is survived by her loving mother, Mavis; her beloved son, Christian; her siblings Debra (Debbie), Neil, Lincoln, and Darrel; her nephews Stephen, Dexter, Dylan, Michael, and Noah; her nieces Schuyler and Seychelle; and her many cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and colleagues who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Gail’s life was defined by resilience, ambition, generosity, and an unforgettable spirit. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we honor Gail’s life, we find comfort in the reassurance of Romans 8:28 — that God’s plan is always perfect, even when the journey is painful or difficult. When God is silent, He is still working on our behalf. We trust that He has welcomed Gail into His eternal peace, and we hold onto the promise that her light will continue to shine through the memories we cherish.
