John J. Montiel Sr.

John Joseph Montiel, 83, of Queens Village, New York, passed away on October 27, 2024. Born on April 5, 1941, John dedicated his life to his family and community. He was a loving husband to his late wife, Carmen, and a devoted father to his sons, John (Catherine), James (Barbara), and Paul (Euridiss). He was also a cherished Mipa to Ashley, Mandie, Sean, and ToniAnn, and a proud Great-Grandfather to Emerson.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Nellie and Robert Montiel, and his brothers, Robert and William. He is survived by his sister, Alice, and remembered as a beloved uncle and friend to many.

After honorably serving in the United States Navy, John joined the NYPD, where he served with distinction until his retirement. He was also an accomplished locksmith. John was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, where he participated actively in the community.

A memorial gathering for John will be held Friday, November 1, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at R. Stutzmann & Son, 22439 Jamaica Ave, Queens Village, New York 11428. A memorial gathering will occur Friday, November 1, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 22439 Jamaica Ave, Queens Village, New York 11428. A memorial mass will occur Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 10:45 AM to 11:45 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, 92-96 220th St, Queens Village, New York 11428.
