Gone From My Sight

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
 
Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone."
 
Gone where?
 
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.

And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"
 
And that is dying...

To Semone and Shoba,
The passing of your mother will forever change you.  Now, it feels surreal but the depth of emptiness is yet to come and will wash over you at different points in your lives.
I hope you find some peace in this poem and assurance that she is never gone but rather making her journey to another “port” .  In lifetimes to come you would meet each other again and again.

Words can't express how saddened we are to hear the loss of our  most wonderful  Mosie lena. She was an amazing person.  
I was so privileged to have you as my very special aunt that meant so very much to me, you were such an important part of our family. A smile you could see from a mile away. From the very first time I meet aunty Leena she always had the most beautiful and bright smile on her face. A memory which will live on. I lost a childhood friend.  I can’t believe she is gone. I know the shock is very painful .It’s even greater for the family.. I hope memories of happy times you  had  together  can be of some comfort during this incredibly difficult time .  Gone but not forgotten. May Lord Krishna accept her in his garden. Rest In Peace.🌷
