Born on a balmy Thursday, September 26, 1963, in Dondon, Haiti, to the gracious Ania Dolce and the dashing Duc Azemar, Dadie arrived in the world already carrying the spark of quiet brilliance and timeless grace. She spent her early years in Dondon, where she completed her primary studies at École des Sœurs de St. Joseph de Valliers du Dondon.
With the start of her secondary education, she moved to Cap-Haïtien and attended Collège Pratique du Nord through her first year of high school. At 14, after the devastating loss of her father, she relocated to Port-au-Prince. It was there, at Les Frères Adrien du Sacré-Cœur, that she met the love of her life, Leonard Millord.
Dadie often spoke of her childhood as one full of magic—powdered dirt roads, sun-washed afternoons, and the loving, ever-entertaining chaos of her sister, cousins, and friends. She endured the complexities and challenges of her youth in Haiti with a grace so delicate and quiet that to blink was to miss it—and be lesser for it.
A lifelong learner, she pursued her higher education with purpose and passion. Dadie earned a degree in African Studies from IERAH, followed by two additional degrees—one in Educational Studies from Université Quisqueya and another in Sociology from Université d'État d'Haïti.
On October 5, 1985, she married her first and only love, Leonard Millord. Together, they raised two children, Lines and Lendl, building a home grounded in faith, love, and laughter. Following Leonard’s passing in March 2004, Dadie carried forward his legacy by serving as director of Collège Léonard Millord, a role she fulfilled with deep dedication until her own passing.
Dadie is survived by an enveloping and loving family:
• Her daughter, Lines, and son-in-law Stanley
• Her son, Lendl, and daughter-in-law Vanessa
• Her beloved grandchildren: Lendyana, Lanayah, and Leonardo Mateo
• Her sister, Dulette Azemar Jovin
• Her niece, Samania Jovin Moran
• Her cherished godchildren: Loubens Jovin, Garhensnite Deriviere, and Poudinah Cadet
• Her Dolce cousins across two generations in the United States and Canada
• The extended Millord, Marc, Jolicoeur, Nérée, and Jovin families
• And her dear friends from the Beaulieu side, who stood by her through every season
To the friends who journeyed with her through decades of struggle and joy—thank you.
Her legacy is woven into every life she touched, in every soul she uplifted, and in the boundless love she gave so freely.
