It is with deep sorrow and profound gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Sauveur Gerard Adonis, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026 surrounded by family.
Born in Haiti on October 16, 1935 to Thomas Adonis and Aline Tilus, far from the life he would eventually build, he grew up understanding the value of hard work, resilience, and faith. As a young man, he made the brave decision to leave his homeland and journey to a new country with little more than hope and determination. Like many immigrants, he carried with him dreams not for himself alone, but for the family he hoped to build.
Those early years were not easy. He worked long hours in whatever jobs he could find, often sacrificing comfort and rest so his family could have opportunities he never did. Through perseverance and unwavering dedication, he slowly built a stable and loving home.
To his children, he was a quiet hero — the man who never complained about early mornings, who fixed what was broken, who believed deeply in education, and who reminded them that their future was limitless. His sacrifices became the foundation upon which generations could stand taller.
He was known for his humility, kindness, and steady presence. Friends and neighbors remember him as someone who offered help without hesitation and wisdom without judgment. Though he never sought recognition, his life was a testament to the strength of character and the dignity of honest work.
Above all else, his greatest pride was his family. Watching his children and grandchildren grow, succeed, and carry forward the values he instilled brought him immense joy.
His legacy is not measured in possessions, but in the opportunities he created, the love he gave, and the family he nurtured.
Sauveur Adonis is now reunited in heaven with his beloved wife Marie Jacqueline Adonis. He is survived by his devoted children Augustin Geralda Obas, Marie Guirlaine Adonis, Milhardi Gerard Adonis, and daughter in law Stacey Yearwood Adonis; his cherished grandchildren Augustin Carl Sébastien, Augustin Darla Christie Herchelle and James Gerard Yearwood Adonis. Sauveur is also survived by his cousins Leona Adonis and Cleone Adonis.
He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always honored for the life he built — not just for himself, but for all who came after him.
His story lives on in every life he touched.
