Yvonne Hanson

Yvonne Melhado-Hanson, was born in Jamaica W.I. 66 years ago. She was the eldest child of Revolin and Roland Melhado and was "big sister" to Maureen and Paul Melhado. They say people born in the month of January are "emotionally and spiritually generous individuals, who truly want to leave the world a better place". Yvonne Hanson was, through her thoughts and consistent actions, the physical manifestation of this belief. Yvonne was: caretaker to her parents, best friend to her mother, favorite child to her father, dutiful and loyal wife to her husband, beloved mother to her daughter, grandson and nephew, Anti to all the children in her family, an avid antique collector, a public servant for 40+ years , head of household and the glue that kept her family emotionally connected. People fortunate enough to know Yvonne for long periods of time most often describe her as, " the most consistently pleasant person I've ever known". Yvonne had the gift of bringing joy to all occasions and the old fashioned values of getting things done, rather than complain about them. And then there were her potato salads! At every family event, it was the event. How we will all remember and long for that!

Yvonne Melhado-Hanson, leaves behind her husband of 50 years, Barrington Hanson, her daughter Kerringtion Hanson and her grandson Donzel. Nothing can replace the loss of Yvonne from her family and time can only strengthen her presence in our hearts and minds.

A visitation for Yvonne will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at R. Stutzmann & Son, 224 39 Jamaica Ave, Queens Village, NY 11428. A morning prayer & final viewing will occur Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, 22439 Jamaica Ave, Queens Village, New York 11428. An interment will occur Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM at St. Charles Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY.
