Joyce L. Berthelsen

Joyce L. (Frederick) Berthelsen – 96, of Quincy, passed away on December 20, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Berthelsen Jr., with whom she shared 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2017.

Joyce was born in Bradford, PA, and was the daughter of the late Charles T. and Edna Viola (Brown) Frederick-Gold. Joyce is survived by her sister Ernestine Woods of Limestone, NY, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Thomas, Kenneth, John, Leonard, and David and sisters Bonnie Rose, and Marion Battles.

Joyce was a graduate of Bradford High School, PA., and Eastern Nazarene College, Quincy, MA. She was employed for many years by Boston Edison. Joyce loved making crocheted blankets and other crafts. She and Walter spent many summers camping at various church camps enjoying the company of family and friends. Joyce was a long time member of Wollaston Church of the Nazarene and had a deep faith and trust in God.

A visitation will be held from 10-12 PM with a funeral home service to beginning at 12 PM on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Deware Funeral Home, 576 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA 02170. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, 302 Elm Street, Everett, MA 02149. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
