

Sabina Mary (Kavanagh) Stenberg passed away peacefully at Marina Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation in Quincy on June 4, 2017. She was born in Boston on October 4, 1930 to Martin and Margaret Kavanagh of Galway, Ireland. She was a lifelong resident of Massachusetts. Sabina was most proud of her accomplishments as an influential educator and businesswoman with beauty schools in Boston, Quincy, and Wollaston, as a fundraiser and founding board member of Cerebral Palsy of the South Shore, as a model for the Bonds of Israel, in her many roles in local politics including her most recent as a long term as a senator on the Massachusetts Silver Hair Legislature, and in receiving her Bachelor's degree from UMASS Boston in 1999 at sixty-eight years old.
She is survived by her sister and her sister's husband Eileen and John Flood, her brother Brendan Kavanagh, daughter Margaret Zecker, daughter-in-law Jan Stenberg, niece Brenda Ferzacca, four grandchildren Garrett, Sheamus, Lauren, and Liam, and four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Abigail, Henry, and Greyson. She was predeceased by her son, Peter Stenberg, and her brothers Christopher, Desmond, and Tom.
Funeral mass will be held at Saint Ann Church, Hancock St in Quincy on Friday September 8, 2017 at 10:00 AM..
