
Wai Fong Wong, age 96, of Randolph, MA passed away peacefully on April 25, 2023. She was predeceased by her husband Poy Gee, brothers Dirk Hin Ng, Dirk Dark Ng, and Dirk Wing Ng, and son-in-law Ging Bing Lee. She is survived by her children: Vivian Lee, Virginia Chin (Aland), John Wong (Irene), and Bobby Wong (Lai), brother Kure-Hiyu (Takako); grandchildren Samson Lee (Susan Chinsen), Stella Nguyen (Hai Nguyen), Erica Lee (Vincent Wong), Eleanor Wong (Charlie Napa), Victoria Chin (Ray Giang), Richard Chin (Wendy Luo), Kevin Wong (Alaina Yong), and Steven Wong; great-grandchildren: Matthew, Evelyn, Nathaniel, Austin, Isabella, Theodore, Riley, Annabella, Harley, and Zachary; and many nieces, nephews, great nephews, great nieces and relatives in the United States, Canada, Japan, and China.
Wai was born in China and later emigrated to Canada in the 1960s. Later, she and her family settled in Boston and opened their own business in Chinatown. David Wong Bean Sprout Company 豆芽黃 served the Greater Boston Chinese restaurants for many years before Wai and Poy retired. Wai was active in the Chinatown community and the Wong Association in Boston.
Wai enjoyed to travel and often visited family in Japan. She also loved Chinese opera, Hong Kong drama and soap opera, especially the period drama. Her most favorite past time was mahjong, which she played weekly with her children or with friends.
Services will be held on Friday May 5th, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Deware Funeral Home, located at 576 Hancock Street in Quincy, MA 02170.
