Gary Stephen Schaefer

Mr. Gary Stephen Schaefer of 152 Hidden Creek Lane, died Monday, December 13, 2010 at his home at the age of 54. Mr. Schaefer was born in Liverpool, England on August 28, 1956 to the late Joseph and June Schaefer. He retired with the Special Forces in the US Army and also was a lifetime member of the Special Forces Association. Gary was the owner and operator of The Video Center in Raeford. Survivors are his wife, Cathy Schaefer of Raeford, NC; a son, Gary Stephen Schaefer, II and wife Twinkle of Raeford, NC; two daughters, Maranda Barnett and husband Donald of Clarksville, TN, and Shannon Pittman and husband Wade of Cameron, NC; a step-daughter, Heather Collins and husband Jonathan of Maxton, NC; two step-sons, John Hammonds and Calvin Lee Hammonds, both of Raeford, NC; five grandchildren, Matthew Pittman, Emily Pittman, Haden Barnett, Danica Schaefer, and Gracie Barnett; seven step-grandchildren, Hailey Atherton, Johnathan Atherton, Nayona Collins, Jon-Alan Collins, Amira Hammonds, Caden Locklear and John Bryan Hammonds. Visitation will be held between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm, Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford, NC, and at other times at the home at 152 Hidden Creek Lane, Raeford, NC. Full military honors will be held later at the Special Forces Association Complex on Doc Bennett Road, Fayetteville.
