

He was born in New Hanover, North Carolina on August 14, 1942, to the late Jesse James Taylor Sr. and Mary Louise Hendrix.
Alongside his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Patsy Taylor; his daughter, Teresa Adams; his granddaughters, Hannah, and Abigail McBryde; his grandson, Matthew Rockholt; and his brother, George “Booboo” Hendrix.
Jesse was a hard worker and devoted provider for his family. He was very punctual, and always made sure to arrive early. He was an avid bowler and golfer, enjoyed games of skill, and loved visiting the casino. He enjoyed trips to the mountains and taking Sunday drives with his family. Spending time with his family was important to him, especially his wife, Patsy. Jesse took pride in everything he did and loved to win. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
He is survived by his two daughters, Beverly Taylor of Raeford, NC, and Deborah McBryde and her husband, Mike, of Laurinburg, NC; his son, Jesse James Taylor III, and his fiancée, Pamela Brady, of Holden Beach, NC; a special granddaughter, Sarah Bullard and her husband, Charles, of Maxton, NC; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Barbara Odom of Raeford, NC; and his brother, Robert Taylor of Holden Beach, NC.
A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford, NC 28376 with Rev. Glenn Vollrath officiating. The service will begin at 3:00 p.m., with burial immediately following at the City of Raeford Cemetery.
