

John Allen Warren, Jr., age 86, of Cary, NC, formally of Red Springs, NC, died June 13th at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 12, 1925 in Fayetteville, NC, the son of the late John Allen Warren, Sr. and Kathryn Watson Warren. He is the nephew of the late Neil Archie and Elizabeth Smith of Red Springs. Allen was a 1945 graduate of Red Springs High School and attended East Carolina Teachers College (ECU) in Greenville, NC. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Marine Corp, serving in the Pacific Theater during the siege of the Marshall Islands and Okinawa. Allen worked for Electrical Equipment Company serving as Manager of the Laurinburg plant and Vice-President of the company until his retirement in 1990. After retirement he continued his service to the company as a member of the Board of Directors through 2008. He was awarded the special honor of Director Emeritus in 2009 in recognition for his excellent service to the company spanning 56 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Red Springs and served as Deacon and Elder. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Hannah Price Warren; daughters, Kathryne Warren Coleman of Cary, NC and Martha Warren Bassett and husband Tad Bassett of Raleigh, NC; three grandchildren, Stephanie Blake Sorrell, Helen Nicole Sorrell and Benjamin Allen Coleman of Cary. He is also survived by his cousin, Betty Anne Koon of Fairfield, CA and several special nieces and nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 on Thursday, June 16th at the Red Springs Presbyterian Church, 115 Vance Street, Red Springs, NC with the Reverend Michael McGehee officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the Church Parlor beginning at 2:00. A private burial will be held at Alloway Cemetery in Red Springs.
