Lynda Owens Lewis

Lynda Owens Lewis, 69, of Pinebluff, NC died Sunday, April 21st, 2013 at the Firsthealth Hospice House in Pinehurst. Lynda had fought a very courageous battle against ovarian cancer for nearly two years. Lynda was one of the six children of Dr. and Mrs. Francis L. Owens of Pinehurst. Her father encouraged her to continue educating herself throughout her life. She earned her Bachelor of Science in 1964 from Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA. She earned her Master of Education in 1968 from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC. And in 1981, she received her Registered Nursing degree from Sandhills Community College. Lynda continued working as a Registered Nurse until just a few weeks of her passing. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Jennifer Owens Kalkhof. Lynda is survived by her two children, Karin Lewis Osterman (husband Kurt) and Charles Patrick Lewis (wife Beth) and her grandson William North Lewis. She is also survived by three sisters and one brother. Sisters, Judy Cox ( husband, Dr. Pete Cox ), Audrey Beddingfield (Husband, Bob Beddingfield), Cathy Kalimon (Husband, John Kalimon) and her brother Pat Owens (Wife, Kathy Owens). Lynda leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and a wealth of friends who will miss her greatly. She also leaves two dogs, Little and Jolly Bean, and one cat Dokie. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25th from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Crumpler Funeral Home, 40229 US 1 Highway, Aberdeen, NC.
