Rita Cummings

Mrs. Rita Cummings of Raeford went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital at the age of 66. Mrs. Cummings was born on May 18, 1954, to the late Alex Locklear and Essie Mae Revels Locklear. She was preceded in death by her sister Ann Cummings. Mrs. Cummings was a member of Rock Grove Baptist Church. She retired from the Hoke County Public Schools as a Teacher's Assistant. She was an avid gardener, loved cooking, traveling on special trips, loved to go shopping with the family and was an angel to her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. To My Dear Wife, whom I've loved all my life. Even though you are not here, you will always be my wife. I loved you dearly as a husband should. We've been together though the bad and good. You will always remain in my heart. Love, Your Husband Sam.She is survived by her husband of 49 years Sam Cummings of Raeford, NC; a daughter Teresa Chavis and her husband Dwayne of Shannon, NC; a son Sammy Junior Cummings and his wife Renee of Laurinburg, NC; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Samantha, Daniel, Aubrey, Destine, Katelyn and Tawianka; 10 great grandchildren: two sisters Doris Whitehead of Fayetteville, NC, Susan Lowery of Fayetteville, NC; three brothers Buddy Locklear of Fayetteville, NC, Leon Locklear and his wife Iris of Hope Mills and Larry Locklear of Fayetteville, NC. Visitation will be held from held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday at the Funeral Home.
