Mr. Robert H. Atkinson of Whispering Pines died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 in FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care at the age of 80. Mr. Atkinson was born on June 11, 1933 in Tillamook County, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lois Atkinson. He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Southern Pines. Mr. Atkinson was a graduate of Michigan State and received his degree in agriculture. Mr. Atkinson is survived by his son, Tim R. Atkinson (Angela Hall) of Whispering Pines; his daughter, Jennifer M. Atkinson of Hickory; his sister in law, Evelyn Watson of Robins; two grandchildren, Beth Atkinson and Zack Atkinson both of Hickory. A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 350 E Massachusetts Ave, Southern Pines, NC 28387.
