

Dateline: High Point Mrs. Ruby Clawson Currie of High Point, formerly of Red Springs, died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Providence Place in High Point at the age 89. Mrs. Currie was born in Blowing Rock, NC on March 18, 1925. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Currie, her parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister. She was a member of Red Springs Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star Red Springs Chapter. After she graduated high school she moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she was employed by Lockheed Martin. She then moved to Miami Beach for a short time period before moving to Charlotte to attend Kings Business College. She married Robert while in Charlotte, they then moved to Red Springs and was employed with Civil Service at Fort Bragg. Ruby was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors. She enjoyed helping others when needed. Ruby was a practical woman with a keen eye for a deal. She leaves a strong independent legacy. Survivors are her daughter Arlene Currie Meyer of High Point, NC; one grandson Ross William Meyer of Charlotte NC; 1 granddaughter Cory Meyer (Grant) Grimshaw of Concord NC; 1 great- granddaughter Addison Grace Grimshaw also of Concord, NC. Visitation will be held Monday from 12:00-1:00pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel 220 East 4th Ave. Red Springs, NC with Reverend Dr. Beverly Thompson officiating. There will be a private committal service.
