

Richard was born on Thursday, January 1, 1925 in Leadville, Colorado to the late Otto and Freda Lund. He had worked with the Fisheries for many years. Richard was the original founding member of the McInnis Creek Chapel. He was a Veteran of World War II having served overseas. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion where he enjoyed spending time with his comrades. He liked cats, playing cards and having people visit with him. His favourite hobby was bottle collecting and his collection consisted of over 4000 bottles, glasses and mugs.
Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters Joyce Lund of Calgary, AB and Roxanne Lund of Winnipeg, MB and his two grandchildren Michael and Ashley. Also surviving are cousins Ron, Bonnie and Darrel Swanson, Roger and Tracy Jaymieson, Gordon and Kathleen Desormeaux, Noah and Diana Desormeaux, close friends Janet and Frank Wolanicki and Bonnie and Tom Irvine.
A celebration of Richard’s life was held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54 in Rainy River with Lay Pastor Carolyn Kreger officiating.
Interment will take place in the McInnis Creek Cemetery at a later date.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54 Color Party performed their tribute at the service.
The honourary pallbearers were all of Richard’s comrades from the Royal Canadian Legion.
