Abbot Henderson McClintic, 64, of Morehead City, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on May 14, 1961, in Lynchburg, Virginia, to Roberta and William McClintic, Jr., Abbot attended Virginia Episcopal School and went on to earn a degree in business from North Carolina State University.
Those who loved him will forever carry the memory of his easy smile, his love of the outdoors, and the calm strength he shared simply by being himself. As a proud husband, father, and grandfather, Abbot (known as Big to his grandchildren) cherished his time with family, particularly out on the water in Atlantic Beach or at the family’s cabin in Laurinburg. He was also a loyal friend to many, with relationships that spanned decades and memories he spoke of often.
Abbot is survived by his wife, Beth McClintic; his children, Abbot McClintic, Jr. and his wife, Katie, and their daughter Ann Pate; Caroline Flannery and her husband, Gary, and their children Whit and Charlotte; his brother, Will McClintic, and his wife, Stuart; and his cherished nieces and nephews.
He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, steadiness, and love that will be felt for years to come, and his memory will live on in the people who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Christ Church, 120 E Edenton St, Raleigh, NC, 27601.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the UNC Interstitial Lung Disease Fund. https://give.unc.edu/hfdonate?t=mcclinti
