Adele Marie Dickinson, age 75, was called home on Friday, April 22, 2022 at UNC Rex Hospital. Born on July 2, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York; she was the daughter of the late Michael Deutsch and Catherine Hanlon Deutsch.
Our beloved Adele was the youngest of three siblings, one of whom preceded her in death. She was raised in a devout Catholic household with a strong Irish-German upbringing, attending primary and secondary schools in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating, she worked as a telemarketer before committing her life to teaching children with disabilities. She met the love of her life, Ronald at the sweet age of 16 and they married in June of 1968. She was blessed with, and raised, two daughters to which she devoted her life to and ensured they were cared for and loved with understanding, compassion and most of all patience.
After moving to Raleigh, North Carolina, she dedicated her life to teaching children with various disabilities in the Wake County Public School System until her retirement. Adele's passion in teaching was the importance of reading and self-value in building success in her students' lives through academia.
One of Adele's greatest joys of her life was becoming a Grandma to her five grandchildren of whom she loved dearly. In addition to her grandchildren, she loved listening to Irish music, spending time with family and friends, visits from her grandchildren and talking with them over the phone. Adele was known by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her for being sweet, kind, and gentle yet with a strong, loyal and forgiving spirit. She was very supportive and loved to cheer on others to be their best selves. She was always available in times of need, to listen and to offer comfort. She was also known to have the best smile and laugh that could brighten up anyone's day. Adele will never be forgotten as a little bit of her can be seen and felt in all of the lives that she touched and all who loved her.
Adele is survived by her husband of 53 years: Ronald K. Dickinson; daughters: Laura Ghebray and husband Michael Ghebray of Canovanas, Puerto Rico and Michelle Stamey of Raleigh, North Carolina; grandchildren: Dominic Silva, Makaylah Stamey, Anniyah Baynes, Vanessa Ghebray and Joshua Ghebray. She is also survived by her sister Lorraine Falkiewicz; and other extended family and friends including a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Family will receive friends on Monday evening, May 9th from 6-8 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home in Raleigh. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 11 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with a Committal Service at the Church Columbarium following.
