Mrs. Agia was born in Egypt on May 8, 1942, to a beautiful, modest, Christian family, where she spent most of her life. She met her husband Loutfy Ibrahim of 55 years, and they started their own family August 4, 1968. She had two sons whom she raised in the fear of God. She started her career as a social studies and history teacher and retired as a school district regional manager. She taught middle and high school youth in Sunday School for many years.
She was adored by all those who knew her. Regardless of all her illness in her later years, she always smiled, never complained, or burned anyone with what she was going through. Instead, she always asked about those around her, ones she knew and ones she hardly knew but was aware they were going through hard times. She was simple in every way, yet so compassionate in all her dealings. She always had the right words to say, that lifted those around her. She was always positive, she was a living bible, she lived by example. Even to her old age, she loved the church, the worship, and was never late to any services.
She was loved by all the priests, clergy and the servants of the church, the older ones and the youth. She had a young soul. She loved completing bible study competitions, and always ended up with a prize that she would gift to others. She also enjoyed watching cooking shows and finding new recipes on YouTube that she would cook for her kids and grandkids for when they visited every Sunday. Although not always a success, we always looked forward to trying her new dish seeing how excited she was to tell us about this week’s dish, how she prepped it and all the ingredients she put in it, including her secret ingredient, her love. She will be truly missed.
In addition to her husband, the beloved Mom is survived by her sons, Emad McKar and his wife, Viola; Sameh Ibrahim, and his wife, Monica; and her grandchildren, Alex, Julia, and Emily.
A funeral service for Agia will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 12:30 pm at St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church, 3405 N. New Hope Road, Raleigh. Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park.
