Terri -- I am an old Towson State friend of Al's and only just learned of his passing yesterday.  I can't express what a shock it was to hear not only of his passing, but that so many months had gone by.  Thank goodness for Facebook, where he and I had caught up a little bit in the past few years and chatted periodically.  I just wanted to say how much I cared for Al, what a sweet and generous person he always was and so much fun to be around.  I feel at a loss for words as I still am trying to grasp this shocking news.  Please accept my sincerest and most heartfelt condolences for you, your beautiful children and Al's sisters.

Al's Father and I were very close and I spent alot of time with him ,during the Summers, after he returned from the War.
I stayed with him and his Father, Victor, at their shore home on Cypress creek.
He and I did alot of sailing,fishing and crabbing together on the Magothy River.
When Al Jr. was born I could see that he had all of the traits of his Father Al Sr.
It really saddens us that he was so young and I'm sure that he will be greatly missed by all.
He is now in a better place with Al Sr and his Mom Louise.

I met Al the day I started with DTG 8 years ago and from that moment I knew that Al lived by a high standard of loyalty and integrity. Working hard for his customers, sharing insights with his colleagues, giving thanks to those that supported him was how Al lived his work life.  He did it well. 

Heather and Alec, I only saw your father a couple times a year in-person but talked to him several times a year by phone.  Every time your Dad talked about the two of you, it was with tremendous pride and deep, everlasting love.  He always had a smile (I could hear it in his voice) and a sparkle in his eye.  

Terri, Heather, Alec and all of Al's family, may the wonderful and profound memories you shared with your father, your husband, your brother, your son in-law, your uncle be with you always.  Those memories will certainly be with Al for eternity.

My thoughts go out to Al’s family.  I worked with him over the past six years, and can’t think of anyone who was better at their job than Al.  I told him once that a colleague and I like to joke that if everyone did their job as well as Al did his, things would run much more smoothly.  He told me that his dad told him, “whatever you do, be the best at it you can be”.  Al certainly lived up to that in his work and I can only imagine he did the same as a husband and father.  He will be missed.

Over the course of the past six years, many of us here at Working America had the great privilege of getting to know Al Reider through his role as our Thrifty representative.  Al was always a joy to work with ”his cheerfulness, attentiveness, and patience with our staff in even the most trying of circumstances made him a legendary figure within the ranks of our field staff who were lucky enough to get to work with him.  We all loved working with Al, and his presence and the enthusiasm with which he approached his work will be deeply missed.

Al worked with my organization, and even in the professional world in which I worked with him his warmth, compassion and good nature really shined through. What a sad loss, and I'd like to offer my hearfelt condolences to the entire family.
