

Alexander L Milak (Al) died on September 14, 2023. His daughter Sherri, was by her "Daddy," who will be free of pain now forever. Al was born in New Brunswick New Jersey, July 17, 1931. He was the son of Julius and Vilma Milak. He was Predeceased by his sister Catherine Monticello, his wives Grace Milano Milak, Rebecca Morris Milak, and Evelyn Chaikin Milak, Al is survived by his daughter Sherri Lynn Fields, of Clayton NC. His son, Al and his wife Jennifer of Raleigh, NC. Also, Grandchildren Alex Taylor, his wife Kelly, Graycen, and Ella Milak, Gavin Brennan, and, Great Granddaughters Naiomi and Raelynn Taylor.
At age one (1), Al's parents sent him to Hungary to live with his Paternal Grandparents, and with his sister Catherine, who was born in Hungary. In 1939, Al and Catherine went to America to live with their mother and father in NYC. While still in High School, Al joined the Army, he became a radio operator serving in the 82nd Airborne. He was honorably discharged in 1952. He got his GED High school equivalency degree, then Under the GI, Bill, he received an Associates Electronics degree. While in school Al got his "Ham," (Amateur Radio) License. His call letters were K2EXJ. He was hired by IBM, in 1955 as a Lab Technician. Al was employed by IBM for 36 years. After retiring, he was rehired for a year as a Contractor. While employed by IBM, he became an Engineer. As an Engineer he had numerous Engineering assignments. He transferred from Kingston, NY, to Raleigh NC, in 1966. He retired from IBM in 1991. He was rehired as a Contractor for a year. In 1998 his wife Grace became ill with Multiple Myeloma (Bone Marrow Cancer). They moved to New Jersey in 1999, to be near Grace's family. After twelve years, she passed away. Al moved back to North Carolina, and lived there until his death.
Al had an undying love for sports. His favorite pastime was playing golf, and officiating most High School sports, also, Women's Division 1 College basketball. While retired, Al became the Athletic Director and Basketball coach for the Raleigh Christian Community School for two years. Al was always ready to help his friends and neighbors. He was well liked, and will be missed. He will not be forgotten.
A Committal Service was held at on September 22, 2023 at Raleigh Memorial Park in the Chapel Mausoleum. Entombment will follow the service at the Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum.
