On July 14, 2021, Anthony Marchetti, 62, passed away suddenly at his home in Raleigh, NC into God’s graces. Anthony had been receiving care for a GBM brain tumor and was scheduled to begin treatments at the Duke Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center.
He is survived by his domestic partner, Sue Frederick; his son, Kristopher Marchetti, WI; his three sisters, Angelina and husband, Terry Butler, WI, Cheryl Marchetti and partner, Mike Spears, CA, and Carla Harris and partner, Frank Harris, CA. Anthony was also very close to Sue’s family; daughter, Merritt and husband, Tom and grandchildren, Winnie and Brady Jones, NC; son, Eben and wife, Julia and grandchild, Fiona Frederick, MD.
Anthony was born on March 24, 1959 in Denver, CO to Elsie Schmidt and Frank Marchetti. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Michael, Angelo, Frank, and Jimmy, and one sister, Beverly. Anthony graduated from high school in Alma, AR and went on to a career in sales. Working alongside his sister, Angelina, he sold SunGold across the US until 1992. Re-locating in State College, PA, he worked for Vertex RSI in maintenance and shipping until 2003 where upon moving to Pasadena, MD, he secured a job at Mattress Discounters where he met many life-long friends. At Mattress Discounters he worked in shipping, warehouse maintenance, and delivery. Leaving Mattress Discounters in 2017, he joined Classic Group, home builder, in Crofton, MD until 2019 when he and Sue moved to Raleigh to start semi-retirement. He was hired by ABM and Allan Industries Inc. and was working at the Hock Plaza in Durham, NC as a Maintenance Porter until recently. There he also made great friends, enjoying lunches out, and visits from them while he was in the hospital.
Anthony’s loves were fishing, Orioles baseball, Ravens football, the beach, Penn State football, and watching his nephew play football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. He regularly participated in a fantasy football group where he was known as the “Italian Stallion.” His love for people was contagious, and if you met Tony, you never forgot him, and he never forgot you. He loved life and always saw the good in everyone. He maintained a positive attitude despite the road ahead of him and shared that positivity with everyone, spurring them on to do the same. He felt that the Lord would take care of him, and he was at peace. He will be sorely missed.
