

ARISTIDES COPULOS, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed on in the Lord peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 27, 2016, having celebrated his 100th year of life. He was born on October 25, 1916, in New York, New York to Milton Demosthenes Copulos and Mary (Arvanitou) Copulos.
He was predeceased by his angel wife, Stella, of 46 years who was the love of his life and whom he established the perpetual memorial at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine; he was also predeceased by sons, Milton Russell and James Socrates.
Survived by his three children with his beloved wife, Stella, Dr. Thomas Aristides Copulos, Stella Copulos Stringer, and Presvytera Mary Copulos Christy, 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He served in the US Army assigned to the 95th Coast Artillery in Radar (1941), and was a First Lieutenant of the US Army Signal Corps when he was honorably discharged at the end of World War II (1946). He was a graduate of The Goodman Theater in Chicago, with Bachelors in Fine Arts and Masters in Fine Arts, and was a Senior Member of the Actors Equity Union. In 1956, he established Tides Conservatory of Fine Arts in Coral Gables, Florida. After retiring from theater, he was an agent with The Prudential Insurance Company for over thirty years, and achieved the highest levels of professional designations: Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Registered Health Underwriter (RHU), and Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF). He was a member of the prestigious Miami Estate Planning Council, and received a Masters from the American College in Advanced Estate Planning. He was a long-time member of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Miami, Florida.

The visitation will take place on Monday, August 29, 2016, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 5000 Lead Mine Road, Raleigh, North Carolina. The Trisagion prayer service will be at 6:30 pm, with The Very Reverend Archimandrite Father D. Stavroforos Mamaies and Reverend Father Paul Christy presiding. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at 11 am, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, officiated by Reverend Father Paul Christy. A makaria will be held in the Church Hall immediately following the funeral service. In order to properly prepare, the family kindly requests that you contact the Church office at 919-781-4548 if you are able to attend the makaria. Interment will take place at Woodlawn South in Miami, Florida, with Reverend Father Paul Christy officiating.
