Azile Goodson Honaker

Azile Goodson Honaker passed away Tuesday night, July 5, 2016. She attended schools in Mount Olive and business school in Raleigh. Azile worked in Raleigh for many years and retired from Carolina Coach Trailways Company as an executive secretary with over 40 years of service. She also worked helping her husband in their luncheonette “Honakers”.

Azile loved life and her family. She was always a good neighbor and friend, and had a compassionate heart and love for animals.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter B. Honaker; her parents, Arlie and Catherine Goodson, of Mount Olive; sisters, Lucille G. Scott, Arlene G. Talton and Violet G. Smith. She is survived by her sister-in-law: Verna Honaker, of Wisconsin; nieces and nephews, Gwyn S. Staton, of Garner, Georgia Daniel and husband Craig, of Fuquay-Varina, Carroll C. Scott and wife Shirley, of Richmond, TX, Dr. Kathy T. Best and husband Doug and Kenny Talton and wife Carrie, all of Mt. Olive, Dr. Kevin Talton and wife Lynette, of Goldsboro; and by numerous great nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to Azile’s caregiver, Tammy Wilfong.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 9, 2016 from 10-11 am at Mitchell Funeral Home, with a service to begin at 11 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
