

Bruce Lincoln Erickson, 81, of Raleigh, died April 2, 2015. Bruce was born on February 12, 1934 in South Dakota. When he was 6, he and his family, he moved to Henryville, Indiana where he and his family owned and lived on a farm. While he was in high school he enjoyed playing basketball, which began a lifelong love for sports.
Bruce proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years. Shortly after, he began his 35 year long career with IBM to live in many places in the United States, such as Kentucky, Virginia, New York, New Jersey and eventually, Raleigh. Bruce enjoyed boating and skiing with his children when they were younger. In the more recent years, he had grown to enjoy the game of golf. He had a great sense of humor and was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Edna Noblin Erickson; children, Michael Erickson and his wife, Minh, of Washington, Mark Erickson and his wife, Barbara, of Florida, Nancy Erickson, of Ohio, Robert Erickson, of Oregon and first wife Glenna Broady in Ohio; step-children, Paulette Noblin, of Raleigh and Paul H. Noblin, of Clayton; grandchildren, Jon Erickson and Kimberly Erickson, of Washington; step-grandchildren, Jacob Noblin and Madison Noblin, of Clayton; brother, Donald Erickson and his wife, Mary Lou, of Indiana; and sister, Phyllis Rowan, wife of Orland Rowan (deceased), of Florida. Bruce is preceded in death by his second wife, Jo Anne F. Erickson; and his parents, Tim and Hazel Erickson.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC, from 2:00-3:00pm, with the funeral beginning at 3:00 pm. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bruce’s memory to Transitions LifeCare Hospice, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 276007.
