

Camille Rogers Schaffer, 69, of Emerald Isle, NC died suddenly on September 16 while on vacation in Paris, France. Born August 6, 1956 in Creedmoor, NC she was the third and youngest daughter of Mary Ella Jenkins and John Beverly Rogers.
Camille graduated South Granville County High School class of 1974. She was a proud Tar Heel, graduating with a BA in Criminal Justice from the University of North Carolina in 1978. Camille continued her studies at North Carolina State, receiving a Masters in Public Administration in 1984 and going on to work in Wake County government for a total of 30 years, retiring in 2011.
While at NC State, Camille met Mark Schaffer and the two married on May 26, 1984. Together they built a happy life in Raleigh with their two children, Emily and Alex, before retiring to Emerald Isle in 2023.
An avid sports spectator, Camille loved rooting for the Baltimore Orioles, Carolina Hurricanes, and all UNC sports teams – her favorite being UNC’s Basketball and Women’s Soccer. Camille loved spending time at the beach and traveling the world with her family.
Camille is survived by her devoted husband of 41 years Mark, two children Emily (Charlie) and Alex, two grandchildren Sebastian and Ella, her sister Trudy Gilbert, and beloved labradoodle Manny. She is preceded in death by her parents, eldest sister Beverly Ann, and brother-in-law Neal Gilbert.
