Carolyn was born and reared in Rhine, Georgia and moved with her husband to Raleigh in 1939, where she has lived until the present time. She was a life-long member of Edenton Street United Methodist Church. She was a retired school teacher, and her favorite hobby was genealogy.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Carolyn J. Burton; grandsons, Ed Burton (Cindy) and Cooper Burton (Amy); and great grandchildren, Edward IV, Bentley, Avery and Beck.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 2 from 10:30am-11:00am, with the service beginning at 11:00am at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
