

Carolyn Chester Watson, 80, of Raleigh passed away on Saturday, September 4th, 2010. Born on April 2, 1930 to Dr. Pinckney Jones and Bertha Cochran Chester, Carolyn graduated from Southern Pines High School in 1948 and from Duke University on 1952. After teaching school overseas for 2 years, she returned to Southern Pines and married Jordan Kimball Watson in 1957. She taught at AB Combs and Vena Wilburn elementary schools in Wake County for 28 years. After she retired from teaching, she enjoyed helping care for her grandchildren.
She took a very active role in her kids lives. She served on the board of Northbrook Country Club and the Tarheel Aqua Racers. Always the life of the party, she will be missed. Carolyn is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. And Mrs. John Storey of Corpus Christi, TX, four children, Jonathan Watson of Raleigh, Dr. Caroline Watson Silver and Paul Silver of Cary, Jean Watson of Raleigh and Tim and Staci Watson of Fayetteville, GA, along with seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. P.J. Chester, her mother, Bertha Chester and her husband, Jordan Kimball (Kim) Watson. A memorial service will be held at Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh on Friday, September 10th at 11am. The family will receive friends after the service.
