
Catherine "Beau" S. Dott was born July 16, 1936 in Moorestown, NJ to Eleanor and Harry Smith. After completing school, she moved to Washington, DC, where she met and married her husband, David H. Dott of New York City, in January 1968.
Beau and David moved to New York City where she began a career in politics, first working on the successful election of Mayor John Lindsey. After leaving Mayor Lindsey's office, Beau began work on Nelson Rockefeller's gubernatorial campaign. Following his election win, she continued to work for Governor Rockefeller until the death of David in 1973. During her time in the Governor's office, Beau had two children.
In 1973, Beau moved her family to Washington, DC and went to work for Senator Jacob K. Javits on his personal staff. After six years on the Senator's staff, Beau left politics and worked for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturer's Association. Beau retired from work at the end of her time at the Association and in 2012 moved to Apex, North Carolina to be with her family. She enjoyed gardening and volunteering at Christ Church.
She leaves her two children, Jeremy N. Dott and Jennifer C. Dott-Crouse; daughter-in-law Leslie Dott; four grandchildren Julia Dott, Samantha Dott, Charlotte Crouse, and Isabella Crouse; and two nieces Alexis Reed and Lucia Foster.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11:00am at Christ Church, 120 E Edenton St, Raleigh, NC. The family will receive friends, following the service, in the Parish Hall.
In lue of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Church.
Brown-Wynne, 300 Saint Mary's Street, Raleigh is serving the Dott family.
