Cathy Anne Holley

Cathy grew up in Big Stone Gap, VA, and was a graduate of Clinch Valley College with a degree in education. After teaching for several years, she changed careers, attending Germana Community College to receive a Registered Nurse degree, and, later, the University of Virginia Medical School for an advanced certificate as an Infection Control Practitioner. Cathy worked in a variety of clinical nursing and management positions in Richmond, VA, and Raleigh. She enjoyed her work but after having her children, decided to turn her full time focus to raising her children.

She is survived by her loving husband of seventeen years, Christopher C. Holley, of Raleigh, her daughter, Grace, and son, Nathaniel, both of the home, her parents, and brothers Eddie and Jeff.

The family would like to thank the physicians, nurses and staff of the UNC Women's Cancer Center for their thought leadership and aggressive treatment of Cathy's illness as well as their friendship over the last five years.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 12, 2011, from 4-7 PM at Mitchell Funeral Home (7209 Glenwood Avenue).

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Cathy's memory to the Hospice of Wake County or the UNC Women's Cancer Center.
