Cheryl is survived by her husband, John Andrew (Andy) Booth of Zebulon; daughter Erica Booth Sudyk (Jin) and grandson Henry of Durham; John Anthony Booth (Jordan) of Zebulon; Sister Jaqueline Ferguson Harter (George) of Ashburn VA. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Robert, Charles and Mark Ferguson.
Cheryl was born on June 26th in Fort Benning, GA to her father Albert Ed and her mother Wanda Joyce Ferguson. She met her husband Andy in 1976, and they were married on June 29th, 1978. They welcomed their first child, Erica, on June 30th, 1980. After experiencing some neurological symptoms, she was diagnosed with relapsing/remitting Multiple Sclerosis in 1984. Andy and Cheryl welcomed their second child, Anthony, on March 28th, 1987.
Cheryl was a witty, loving mother who attended her children’s field trips, games and volunteered at their school until MS robbed her of her sight in 1990. Over the 36 year course of her illness, she developed short term memory loss and dementia as well as lost her ability to walk. She fought fiercely against her disease, and maintained her humor and her smile throughout. When asked how she was doing, she always replied “Mean as ever” which let her family know she was doing well. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
An intimate graveside memorial is scheduled for family only on January 16th, 2021. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of American at secure.mymsaa.org. Condolences can be sent to [email protected]. The family would like to thank the staff of Litchford Falls Medical Center for their care of our loved one.
