

Christine L. Brennecke, 71, died peacefully on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at home in Garner, NC. She was born in Bristol, Conn. on July 15, 1949 to Kenneth Jesse Lee and Louise Gertuide Hedman-Lee. In 1969, she married Neil (C.G.) Brennecke Jr., her beloved husband of 51 years.
She graduated from Charleston Souther University, Summa Cum Laude, with a B.A. in Elementary Education. In addition to teaching at the elementary level for ten years, she also was a successful artistic potter and the primary potter in the El Dorado Gallery in Old Colorado City, Colorado Springs, Co. for five years. During this time she also taught pottery at the Community Center at the Air Force Academy. She was also the owner of Westover Coins and Currency in Raleigh, N.C. for 15 years, specializing in Ancient / Biblical coins and U.S. gold coins. Her greatest reward in life was her community service as an Air Force spouse, including her serving as President of the Wive's Club at Keesler AFB, MS; and serving as a board member fo the Girl Scouts of America Wagon Wheel Council in Colorado.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Katherine Brennecke of Cumming, GA; a brother, Michael Lee of White River Junction, VT; and a sister, Francis Lee of Kingfield, Maine. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Jack.
SERVICE UPDATE: A Celebration of Christine's Life will be held on Saturday, July 17th at 1:00 pm at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 2100 Buffalo Rd. Garner, NC. Her ashes will be scattered at Stanley Cannon, Colorado.
The family is forever grateful for the skill, care, and concern given to Christine and treating her Corticobasal Degeneration, by the UNC Memory Clinic's Department of Neurology, The Alzheimer's Association of N.C., and Transitions LifeCare of Raleigh. We are grateful for the care and support Jessica Shurer, MSW, LCSW; facilitator of the Progressive Supernuclear Palsy, Coriticobasal Degeneration Support Group gave us throughout the course of Christine's disease. Also, Marcia Jarrell, Executive Director of SarahCare Adult Day Care at Lake Boone Trail and the entire staff for their exceptional care of Christine's welfare, in dealing with her illness. In addition to the care Christine received, her husband will be forever thankful for the support and council he received from Jessica Shurer, LCSW, and Janie Roe, LCSW.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Transitions LifeCare / Hospice of Raleigh, and UNC Department of Neurology Memory Clinic.
